We talked with Bill Habicht, one of the keynote speakers for the 8th annual event which focuses on the creative economy. Bill talked about his work with churches and businesses creating the Common Good.

We also talked with Sarah Halstead, one of the organizers with Create West Virginia and the creator of West Virginia Green Works. Sarah told us more about Create West Virginia and all the events going on this weekend.

The Real – Episode 021 – Clay Sayre

Clay (or Clayton to Mark) is a native of St. Albans. Both Clay and Mark were part of a group of Star Trek fans in the Kanawha Valley. Clay turned that love into a career in special effects makeup, but later discovered a love for teaching. Clay found a way to combine his hobbies into several appearances on Star Trek New Voyages: Phase II. Mark teamed up with his old friend in the most recent episode “Mind-Sifter.”

Douglas and Albert are two-thirds of The BrotherSisters, an electric folk band out of Charleston, West Virginia. Douglas is the new assistant features editor for the mighty morphing Charleston Gazette-Mail and has been a local pioneer of multimedia journalism for many years. He also helped start Third Eye Cabaret, a local music and art revue.

We talk to these two about the changing shape of journalism and new media, the local music scene, and we hear a couple songs off their new album “You Can’t Be Lost.”
